The project is on the west side of Southwest 2nd Avenue between Southwest 11th Street and Southwest 12th Street would have 262 units, 21,000 square feet of retail, 2,500 square feet of office space and a host of amenities. Zom spokeswoman Beth Alonzo said the luxury apartment building will be called Maizon at Brickell and it’s slated to break ground in the first quarter of 2017. The city has already approved it.
Maizon was designed by MSA Architects.
The project would replace some older apartment buildings on the 1.27-acre site, at 1100, 1132, and 1142 S.W. 2nd Ave. plus 221 to 237 S.W. 12th Street.
There are 13,645 apartments in the development pipeline in greater downtown Miami, including 2,621 units in Brickell, according to Integra Realty Resources’ first quarter residential report for the Miami Downtown Development Authority. Of those, 4,145 are under construction. The study found that occupancy rates remain high.
