Waiting for the new version of Cocowalk has tried the patience of all who care about Coconut Grove. For more months than any of us want to think about, Cocowalk was the biggest fenced-in construction site in town. Now the fences are down, and Cocowalk is slowly coming back to life. Shops and restaurants are opening, and the central courtyard is attracting strollers, shoppers, diners, and people who just want a pleasant break.
More than any other public space in Coconut Grove, the new central courtyard is the Grove’s town square. Whether you like the architecture or not, the courtyard is much more spacious and comfortable than it was in the previous version of Cocowalk. As more stores open during December, Cocowalk will resume its rightful place as the Grove’s epicenter of activity.
