Local franchisers have recently opened the first Rumble Boxing fitness studio in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, with plans to open at least one other South Florida location by next year.
A month ago Andrew and Andrea Britton opened Rumble Boxing Fort Lauderdale in a 4,155-square-foot retail space on the ground floor of The Rise, a 30-story mixed-use apartment building at 408 N.E. 3rd Street. The location will employ 14 people including a general manager, an assistant general manager, trainers, and sales associates. An official grand opening will be held Jan. 5.
“We wanted to open in downtown Fort Lauderdale first to create brand awareness,” said Andrew Britton, who worked in the finance industry for 30 years. “We felt the downtown Flagler Village area was a place where members both work and live nearby. Many of our members live in other parts of Broward County and work downtown, so it offered an opportunity for them as well.”
The Fort Lauderdale location will provide high-intensity, 45-minute workout sessions, which include participants hitting teardrop-style aqua boxing bags.
“Rumble Boxing Fort Lauderdale will provide the same high energy … HIIT [high-intensity interval training] workout as the original RumbleBoxing that opened in New York City back in 2017,” Britton said.
Irma Figueroa of Comras Co. represented Andrew Britton and his wife Andrea, a retired school teacher, in its lease negotiations with landlord Rescore 2nd Street LLC, a subsidiary of Boca-Raton Encore Capital Management led by developer Art Falcone.
Falcone acquired the 1.36-acre site for $9.4 million in 2015. He built The Rise tower with $75 million in construction financing obtained from Pacific Western Bank and Square Mile Capital.
Another Rumble location will open at a 3,206-square-foot space in The Fountains Shopping Center at 401 S. University Drive in Plantation in the summer of 2023, Andrew Britton added. Alfie Hamiltonof Colliers International represented the Brittons.
A spokeswoman for the Brittons said the couple plan to open additional locations in South Florida, but did not provide details. According to Rumble Boxing’s website, four additional facilities will open in South Florida at 11 Plaza Real in Boca Raton, 2341 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, 14585 Biscayne Boulevard in North Miami, and 1220 17th Street in Miami Beach.
The Rumble Boxing gym line was started by four partners: Noah Neiman, an ex-Barry’s Bootcamp master trainer and former cast member of Bravo reality show “Work Out New York”; Catch Hospitality Group co-founder Eugene Remm; Cosi and Kidville founder Andy Stenzler, and Anthony DiMarco, former managing director of Google and 13-time Ironman triathlon participant.
Although Rumble Boxing started in New York, it is a fitness brand of Xponential Fitness,Inc. (NYSE: XPOF), which operates and franchises nine boutique fitness brands including YogaSix, Pure Barre, Club Pilates, CycleBar, StretchLab, Row House, Stride, and BFT.
Rumble Boxing embarked on a franchise expansion strategy in 2021 and has plans to expand to several markets including Dallas, Nashville, and Denver. The chain also intends to quadruple its presence in the San Francisco Bay area.
