A beloved Miami district has been named one of the coolest neighborhoods in the entire world. Coming in at number 29, Coconut Grove is one of Time Out’s 51 coolest neighborhoods this year, which was compiled by polling 20,000 city-dwellers around the world through their annual index survey.

While we’re already aware of the historic neighborhood’s scenic serenity and overall charm, it’s amazing to see it ranked on a national list!

The traditionally Bahamian and bohemian community ranks just after Kilimani in Nairobi, Kenya, with major highlights including its newly redesigned shopping mall, CocoWalk, and magnificent waterfront villa-turned-museum we know and love as Vizcaya Museum & Gardens.

Since its inception in the late 1800’s, Coconut Grove draws influence from its original Bahamian settlers. Today, it remains a warm and welcoming escape from the stresses of city life.

Mentions of the neighborhood’s Organic Farmers’ Market along with two Michelin-starred restaurants, Los Félix and Ariete, makes the Grove a particularly great place to explore. According to Time Out, the perfect day in the walkable area includes stopping by a sidewalk café like Panther Coffee and popping into Books & Books for something to read before sitting down for brunch at Chug’s, a Cuban diner, across the street.

Then spend the afternoon biking or walking the Commodore Trail, and watch the sunset over cocktails at the new waterfront spot Bayshore Club.

The Coconut Grove Arts Festival, which showcases work by nearly 300 international artists every February, also got a shout-out. Keep an eye out for its 2023 iteration on President’s Day Weekend.

This is not the first time Miami gets national attention for a cool region. To be fair, Miami is the epitome of cool so that comes as no surprise. In August, Little Havana was ranked of the 33 Coolest Streets in the World.
