We have a winner, Miami. When we asked for your favorite new restaurants in and around Miami, you responded. We presented you with the top 16 restaurants from our call out, with a range of venues from a new Wynwood brewery to a membership-only sushi bar in the Design District to a sexy fish spot in Brickell. Each week we narrowed the list based on your votes until we arrived at this moment. The final two restaurants left in our hunt for the best new restaurant to open in Miami in 2021-2022 were Chef Adrianne’s Italian spot Forte and The Key Club, David Grutman’s new “clubstaurant” in CocoWalk. But now we can announce that The Key Club has taken the crown in our low stakes, highly unscientific, just for fun search for Miami’s favorite new restaurant. The Key Club is an upscale steak and seafood restaurant by nightclub owner and restaurateur David Grutman which opened March 11 in a key spot in the renovated Cocowalk. The massive 6,700 square-foot, 300-seat restaurant sits in a prime location, at the busy corner of Grand Avenue and Main Highway, where it serves a varied menu of dishes such as catch-of-the-day fish and steaks. Grutman’s restaurants like to go big, with bottle service and a nightlife “clubstaurant” feel. Dishes like Chips & Caviar, coconut lobster roll and a long list of cocktails with top-shelf alcohol and a 200-bottle wine list fit right in. The Key Club captured 69 percent of the vote in our final poll over the popular Chef Adrianne, but her new restaurant Forte put up a good fight. Thanks to everyone who participated in the poll! This poll was completely unscientific. The stakes are low and you could vote for your favorite as many times as you want. We updated the poll weekly until we were down to the final two. THE WINNER: The Key Club: The latest restaurant from Miami nightlife king David Grutman is this high-end steak and seafood spot — or should we say “clubstaurant” — in Coconut Grove at the renovated Cocowalk. Address: 3015 Grand Ave., Coconut Grove Hours: 5:30-10:30 p.m., Sunday-Thursday; until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday Reservations and more Info: 305-521-4969, Thekeyclub.com
