Sofia is a Professional Accountant with over 15 years of experience in the real estate and hospitality industries. Throughout her career, she has held managerial roles that allowed her to acquire experience in investment accounting, financial reporting, and systems implementation. As The Comras Company’s Controller, she is responsible for the company’s overall accounting and financial reporting following legislative requirements and organizational policies.
Prior to joining The Comras Company Sofia worked at JQ Group as a Controller. Before joining JQ Group, she served as Corporate Controller and Treasurer at Brilla Group, a Miami-based private equity firm, focused on the hospitality sector in the Caribbean and Latin America. Sofia was responsible for managing the Accounting and Human Resources departments, as well as the corporation’s tax compliance. During her
six-year tenure, she was also in charge of implementing internal control procedures while participating in financial, strategic planning.
Sofia worked as a Senior Accountant at Gencom Group; a U.S.-based investment firm that owns, operates and develops prized real estate around the world that has completed, directly or indirectly, over $7 billion in real estate transactions. While at Gencom Group, Sofia led the preparation of consolidated financial statements in compliance with GAAP to be delivered timely to investors and lenders, while simultaneously working with different team members to ensure proper budget allocation.
Sofia holds a Master’s in Accounting from DeVry University and has a Bachelor’s in Accounting from Florida International University.
