South Florida’s Biggest Winners & Losers of 2015

Dec 25 2015

Curated from our most popular stories of the year, here are our picks for the people, companies, trends and deals that rose to the top or fell to the bottom in 2015.

WINNER: Michael Comras

The CEO of Miami Beach-based Comras Co. engaged in a whirlwind of major deals.

He teamed with Jonathan Fryd to sell a block of retail on South Beach’s Lincoln Road for $370 million, or $4,933 a square foot. He also sold a building in the Miami Design District for $24 million.

On the acquisitions side, Comras was a partner in the joint ventures that acquired CocoWalk in Coconut Grove for $88 million, and the Shops at Sunset Place in South Miami for $110 million. Another company managed by Comras bought the Grove Station Shops for $12.1 million. And Comras isn’t slowing down: He’s working on plans to revitalize CocoWalk and the Shops at Sunset Place.
